What is a spectacle blind flange?

The female ring-joint groove dimensions shall be in accordance with ASME B16.5. Size of the hole on the tie bar (where required due to bolt spacing) shall be the same as the flange bolt hole and located such that it will not interfere with bolting between two flanges. The thickness of the tie bar dimension t, shall be capable of supporting the weight of the blank in all orientations without permanent deformation to the tie bar.
