What is angle bar?
Angle bar, commonly known as angle iron, is a long steel with two sides perpendicular to each other. There are equal angle steel and unequal angle steel. The width of two sides of an equal angle steel is equal. The specification is expressed in mm of side width × side width × side thickness. Such as “∟ 30 × 30 × 3”, that is to say, equal angle steel with side width of 30mm and side thickness of 3mm. It can also be expressed by model. The model is the centimeter of the side width, such as ∟ 3 × 3. The model does not represent the dimensions of different edge thicknesses in the same model, so the edge width and edge thickness dimensions of angle steel shall be filled in completely in the contract and other documents to avoid using the model alone. The specification of hot rolled equal leg angle steel is 2 × 3-20 × 3. Angle steel can be used to form various stress members according to the different needs of the structure, and can also be used as the connection between members.
Main use of angle steel
It is mainly used for making frame structure, such as tower of high-voltage power transmission, frame on both sides of main beam of steel structure bridge, column and arm of tower crane on construction site, column and beam of workshop, etc., small places such as shelf with flower pot shape placed on the road section, shelf with empty solar energy under the window, etc.

Angle steel for ships
Main product description of angle steel for ship: due to the poor working environment of ship, the performance of angle steel for ship should have good toughness, high strength, good corrosion resistance, welding performance and surface performance. The chemical composition of the material is also different from that of ordinary angle iron. Its main use is: for hull internal components and so on.
Bulb flat steel
Spherical flat steel is a kind of medium profile steel which is mainly used in the field of shipbuilding and bridge building. The main features of the product are:
- 1. The shape is smooth and round, without lines and ribs, and the surface of other steel bars is carved or ribbed, which results in a small bond between flat steel and concrete, while a large bond between other steel bars and concrete.
- 2. In the process of making flat steel with converter, molten iron is mainly used as raw material, and there are less harmful elements in the molten iron. The quality of flat steel produced is relatively guaranteed.
- 3. High sizing rate of continuous casting billet can ensure the sizing rate of flat steel and meet the needs of users.
L section steel
L-shaped steel, also known as unequal edge and unequal thickness angle steel, is a new type of profile suitable for the needs of large-scale ship construction. In addition to large ships, L-section steel can also be used in marine engineering structures and construction structures with high requirements. Its main advantages are:
- 1. When the height of the section steel is the same as that of the abdomen, the section coefficient and rigidity of the L section steel are larger than that of the bulb flat steel.
- 2. At the same section coefficient, the thickness of L-shaped steel plate is slightly thinner than that of spherical flat steel, which is more conducive to improving the quality of welding seam.
- 3. Under the same section coefficient, the storage capacity of the ship is increased and the economic benefit is improved.
Generally, large angle steel is used for side length of more than 12.5cm, medium angle steel is used for side length of 12.5cm-5cm, and small angle steel is used for side length of less than 5cm.
The delivery length of angle steel can be divided into fixed length and multiple length. The selection range of fixed length of domestic angle steel can be 3-9m, 4-12m, 4-19m and 6-19m according to the specification number. The length range of angle steel made in Japan is 6-15m.
The section height of unequal angle steel is calculated according to the length and width of unequal angle steel. Refers to the steel with angular section and unequal length on both sides. Is one of the angle steel. Its side length is 25mm × 16mm · 200mm × 125mm. It is rolled by hot rolling mill. The general specification of unequal angle steel is: ∟ 50 * 32 — ∟ 200 * 125, with a thickness of 4-18mm
Calculated weight of angle steel
Weight per meter = 0.00785 * (edge width + edge width – edge thickness) * edge thickness
For example, 50 * 5 angle steel: (50 + 50-5) * 5 * 0.00785 = 3.73 (this algorithm can only roughly calculate the weight of angle steel, and the actual value is subject to the hardware manual!)
What is channel steel?
Channel steel is a long steel with groove section. Section steel with groove section.
Channel steel is a kind of carbon structural steel for construction and machinery. It is a kind of section steel with complex section. Its section shape is groove shape. Channel steel is mainly used in building structure, curtain wall engineering, mechanical equipment and vehicle manufacturing. It is required to have good welding, riveting and comprehensive mechanical properties in use. The raw material billet of channel steel is carbon steel or low alloy steel billet with carbon content not more than 0.25%. The finished channel steel shall be delivered in hot-working forming, normalizing or hot rolling state. Its specification is expressed by the number of millimeters of waist height (H) x leg width (b) x waist thickness (d). For example, 100 * 48 * 5.3 means the channel steel with waist height of 100 mm, leg width of 48 mm and waist thickness of 5.3 mm, or 10 × channel steel. For the channel steel with the same waist height, if there are several different leg width and waist thickness, add a B C on the right side of the model to distinguish them, such as 25 × a 25 × B 25 × C, etc.
Classification of channel steel
Channel steel is divided into ordinary channel steel and light channel steel. The specification of hot-rolled ordinary channel steel is 5-40 × 3. The specification of hot-rolled variable channel steel supplied by both parties through agreement is 6.5-30 × 3. Channel steel is mainly used in building structures, vehicle manufacturing, other industrial structures and fixed panels and cabinets. Channel steel is often used in conjunction with I-beam.
Channel steel can be divided into four types according to its shape: cold-formed equal edge channel steel, cold-formed unequal edge channel steel, cold-formed inner curling channel steel, cold-formed outer curling channel steel. According to the theory of steel structure, it should be the stress on the flange plate of channel steel, that is to say, the channel steel should be standing, not lying.
Specification setting of channel steel
The specification of channel steel is mainly represented by height (H), leg width (b), waist thickness (d). At present, the specification of domestic channel steel is from 5-40, that is, the corresponding height is 5-40 cm.
At the same height, the light channel steel has narrower legs, thinner waist and lighter weight than the ordinary channel steel. 18-40 is large channel steel, 5-16 is medium channel steel. The imported channel steel shall be marked with the actual specifications and dimensions and relevant standards. The import and export ordering of channel steel is generally based on the specification required in use after determining the corresponding carbon (or low alloy) steel grade. Except for specification number, channel steel has no specific composition and performance series.
The delivery length of channel steel is divided into fixed length and multiple length, and the tolerance value is specified in the corresponding standard. The length selection range of domestic channel steel can be divided into 5-12m, 5-19m and 6-19m according to the specification number. The length of imported channel steel is generally 6-15m.
What is the difference between channel steel and angle steel?
The width of the upper and lower legs of channel bar is the same, and the section is in the form of groove. The specification and model of channel steel are expressed in the form of height (mm) × leg width (mm) × waist thickness (mm). Angle steel is the steel with the section at right angles, the thickness and width of both sides are basically the same. The specification of angle steel is generally expressed in the form of edge width × edge thickness.
